Testing a Dr. McGillicuddy’s, the second of three for tonight. I’m not feeling optimistic! Smell: Oh my god. I’m not sure I can handle this. It’s like a body wash. Maybe shea butter? Taste: I don’t mind it. The honey is obvious. The whiskey underneath isn’t bad either. I wish I could taste the whiskey beneath the honey, but it’s just too much. Ending: It sort of has one. It’s just the honey lingering with a disgustingly sweet sensation in the mouth for a short while after the other tastes fade. This is an improvement over the previous one. I could imagine drinking this if I were sick with a cold or a sore throat. I think it would be great then. It could also be fantastic in a hot toddy. But not for sipping straight when you’re feeling well.

This imitation cough syrup had a metallic, medicinal aroma with obvious added honey and a funky note. The flavor was cloyingly sweet, again with the obvious honey and otherwise unremarkable. The aftertaste was not bad, just sticky with a hint of spearmint. It's fitting that "Dr." is in the name since this could pass for medicine. (Perhaps its history is that it was. I don't know.) In any case, I could not finish it. I only spent 50¢ on a 50 ml bottle, so I did not lose much. With a fresh glass in hand, cheers!
