Cruzan Mango Rum

My wife desired some fruity tiki beverages, so I purchased this since a recipe required mango rum. I didn't plan to sip it straight, but I decided to sample it because the mixed drink (whose identity escapes me) was quite acceptable, though excessively sweet. The aroma is intensely mango, but it resembles artificial fruit flavoring rather than fresh mango. The taste is exceedingly sweet, again with the same artificial mango character. It's unmistakably one-dimensional and an absolute sugar deluge. The conclusion is brief and sweet, as one might anticipate. Fortunately, there was no harshness. I wish I hadn't tried it neat and I'm uncertain what my expectations were, but as you might imagine, it's not pleasant. The sole justification for acquiring this is if you intend to prepare extremely sweet tiki-style concoctions. Otherwise, steer clear entirely. I'm assigning it a 1.5 due to its low cost and its utility in specific mixed drinks.
