A friend who is very fond of high-proof whiskies shared a Signatory Vintage bottling from one of Scotland's underappreciated distilleries, Craigellachie. This distillery is the core of Dewar's, and experiencing it at 68.4% ABV is quite something. This 10-year-old, distilled on 09/04/2012 and bottled from a single first-fill oloroso cask (No. 900699) on 17/02/2023. On the nose, incredible maple syrup; molasses. The best aroma ever. Maraschino cherries; wonderful. This aroma might rank in my top ten ever. Beautifully thick honey. On the palate, amazing sweet caramel; thick honey. Absolutely enjoyable. The aftertaste was slightly smoky. Caramel. Fancy toffee. Overall, this was fantastic. While it only has 3-4 tasting or aftertaste notes, each one was delivered incredibly well, was super enjoyable, and delicious. This will definitely be in my top ten this year. A perfect score, 100/100. If you see it, buy it.
