About this bottle

Diageo's Distillers Edition series showcases select distilleries by applying a secondary maturation in fortified wine to a core bottling. For this process, specially made barrels are constructed with recharred American oak bodies and charred heads from new American oak. These casks are filled with fortified wine for one month before being emptied. The primary spirit, Cragganmore 12 Year distilled in 2008, then rests in these barrels for up to six months. The fortified wine used for this bottling is port.

Dalton Ryder 3.8

Part of the 2020 Limited Spirit release. A pleasant drink, as expected similar to a lightly peated Speyside, but the port cask influence is barely noticeable. Potentially not worth the price.

Catharine Bundy 2.5

Nose: cooked pears, a fruitcake, brandy, dried figs, vanilla Palate: spice, ginger, port wine, fruitcake, malt loaf, grapefruit Finish: tart, berries, fruits, opening to cream

Joy Duvall 3.5

Scotch without peat, has sweetness. Notes of caramel, vanilla, and some green apple. Matured in whiskey casks, then port casks.

Lorrie Dunbar 5.0

Smells like green apple jolly rancher. Crisp and tart. Floral taste.

Quentin Lindsay 3.0

The nose is exceptionally sugary. It drank wonderfully
