CÎROC Black Raspberry

Continuing with the 50ml clear-out, moving from an unflavored vodka to a flavored one is logical. This one makes me a bit apprehensive, as I don't recall ever trying the base Cîroc. I certainly wasn't aware it was distilled from grapes, so I can only speculate on how that will combine with the black raspberry flavor. I also assume standard Cîroc is 80 proof; while flavored spirits are often lower, 70 seems quite low if only natural and artificial flavorings were added. The aroma presents the anticipated 'cleaning product' scent associated with vodka, mixed with raspberry jam, and precisely the artificial raspberry flavor found in countless sparkling waters. As expected, the ethanol presence and burn are minimal, replaced by an overall intense sweetness that I hope isn't also present in the taste. The initial flavor and body are quite weak, starting as simple sugar water. The black raspberry flavor is present but doesn't distinctly taste like black raspberries; rather, it's a faint essence of raspberry donut filling blended with the sweetness of grappa, but without the burn or body. The finish fades the flavoring, returning to a respectable neutral grain spirit profile. There's not much more to say, nor should there be, as flavored beverages, especially vodkas, are not my preference. Objectively, the raspberry flavor here is quite pronounced, with a medium sweetness that isn't overly sugary or heavy. I'm not entirely certain about the flavor distinctions between red and black raspberries, particularly in a spirit, but I wouldn't focus too much on the fruit's color when trying this.
