CASK NO. 78.72 Fat Haggis (SMWS)

Appearance: Honey-gold color with very slow, droplet-like legs. Smell: Aptly named, this drink has distinct Haggis spice and oil notes. It's sweet, mellow, and fruity. Milk chocolate and red fruit are prominent on the back of the aroma. Taste: Hot and sweet. It possesses a "meatiness"; a scent resembling rendered, spiced fat from a lamb roast. You can sense the body with a long, earthy finish. Smell after reduction: Adding water brings out a lot of honey glaze. There are also almost sweet floral notes. Taste after reduction: The sweetness is still very much present; but it has an almost "fried oil" taste. A hint of perfumed fruit also emerges. It essentially smells like someone fried a holiday fruitcake. I purchased this bottle in Scotland a few years ago, and it improves with every pour; it's complex, unusual, and delicious. This is an excellent drink for a very cold day when you need a pleasant buzz. ***I can't quite recall the price, but I believe it was around 160 CAD.
