This Peruvian pisco requires 18 lbs. of quebranta, Italia, torontel, and albillia grapes for each bottle. Produced in the mosto verde style, it is created from wine that has undergone only partial fermentation. It is distilled to 86 proof using German alambique and ancient falca stills. It rests for a minimum of one year without any additives, water, or sugar. Note: This brand was formerly known as Portón and has since been changed to Caravedo.

An intense, traditional Peruvian grape Brandy made with a blend of Quebranta, Torontel & Albilla grapes that have not fully fermented. It has an aromatic beginning with hints of earthy, musty fruits, herbs & spices; while a bold development adds hints of citrus, melon, grape, apple & orange blossom; leading to a long & minerally end with hints of white vanilla, cinnamon & chocolate. You have to love Pisco! If you don't, that's the end of it. If you do, then this is a very good 'acholado'. It's lightly aromatic with fruit hints, clean and warm. I wish it was more expressive on the rocks, but any topping can easily enhance it.
Intricate. The aroma is welcoming and sugary. The initial taste is hot and features potent floral notes and char. No lingering tastes remain besides a hint of grape. It makes the lips tingle.
The saying was “we’re going to finish this tonight” - and we did 😂 A gathering to mark the end of 2022, and a companion brought this bottle from home.
Okay, not a particularly pleasant pisco taste.
