A quintessential Caol Ila. Perfectly suited for the frigid temperature, with approximately 8 inches of fresh snow outside. Notes of campfire smoke, brine, and tar, complemented by a pleasant hint of grilled lemon. It's youthful but remarkably well-aged for its character. I've encountered North Star bottlings a few times; they appear to be a relatively new independent bottler that consistently selects excellent casks, often at reasonable prices.
