Martin Milligan 3.0

Nose: A cool yet substantial peat, a woody scent reminiscent of an ancient grandfather clock, followed by polished leather, overripe red grapes, caramelized carrots, lemonade, and a mild but detectable sherry influence, which is still a great enhancement to the usual Caol Ila bottlings. Palate: Acidic and dry with charcoal and a slight sweetness, pleasant bitter and aromatic spices, grape seeds providing both the bitterness and texture experienced when biting into them. Finish: Very typical of Caol Ila, with the sherry influence being almost imperceptible here; woody tannins, hot white pepper, dark apple skin. The nose is truly delightful and genuinely seems enriched by the sherry component. The palate improves after a few sips. The finish, while quite long, is rather straightforward and a bit too bitter and alcoholic. Nevertheless, it's a good whisky overall.
