Caol Ila 15 Year Unpeated Style (2018 Special Release)

Very strong, robust, and packed with flavor. It has a complex, thick, oily, and creamy richness. The sweetness comes from grapes and red fruits, which is quite unexpected for a Caol Ila that isn't peated. Intensity: 3.5 Bitterness, dense dark wood, oily complexity, muddy earthiness, significant pepperiness, and intensity. Intensity: 1.5 Long finish, woody, and no peat. It burns the back of your throat, feeling young. 1 2 High pepperiness, an intriguing Caol Ila character seems present. Very fruity and floral together, with notes of pear, peach, and applesauce. Creamy smoothness. Aside from the high pepper, the aroma is interesting. Intensity: 2.5 Wow, the complexity here is incredible. Initially, there's nothing, then waves envelop you with a rush of (1) heat on the nose, (2) a sour dough and lemony zest hit, (3) peach sweetness, (4) oily complexity, and (5) a strong citrus and lemon presence. Intensity: 3.5 Medium to long finish, with oakiness and woodiness. Intensity: 3.25

The aroma is light and fruity with hints of vanilla and citrus; the mouthfeel is quite briny and sweet with spice. The aftertaste is rather lengthy, developing into lemony and honey notes with spice. It's a very enjoyable drink! Caol Ila seems like an underappreciated treasure on Islay(?), don't overlook it:) Edit: Increasing the rating to 4.5 as this bottle is nearing its end, the recommendation to not miss out still stands!

Aroma has a slight salty sea quality and even some vanilla. The taste features a lasting vanilla flavor and is very aromatic, filling the nose and mouth, with a gentle woody taste. A very pleasing oak finish that endures. If allowed to linger, you'll detect apples.

Refined, not excessively sweet like American whiskey, and yet not quite a Speyside scotch as it lacks peat... it's a genuinely balanced scotch. Appreciate the sharing, friend!

Nose: Salty, vanilla, apricots, green apples, subtle spices. Palate: Remarkably smooth for 59.1% ABV. Mint, brine, honey, chocolate. Finish: Lingering spices, salty, light honey. Superb!

Very enjoyable with notes of vanilla, peach, cherry, caramel, flowers, grass, pepper, milk chocolate, and raisins.
