A distillery with more lives than a cat, experiencing a revival and a brand funded by government tax relief. There's a story in every dram! The Tobermory distillery has opened and closed multiple times. In 1992, three investors realized they could reopen it, produce a batch of whiskey, and sell it a year later for a substantial tax-free profit, thanks to BES, a government scheme to ensure equity was available for small businesses. So, their efforts and this brand are responsible for the Tobermory and Ledaig drams enjoyed by many today. Anyway, less history, more drinking. This is a simple dram, but quite pleasant. Lovely sweet vanilla, and that's it, but it's a note that it hits well.
