The alcohol content is immediately apparent, starting with red fruit, then notes of prune, oat, brown sugar, a subtle saltiness, and perhaps maple syrup. Oak and spice emerge later, closer to the end. These flavors appear and vanish quickly. The finish is a swift, hot, spicy, and sweet burst that concludes rather rapidly. It's rather dry and astringent, possibly due to the proof. While flavorful, it's quite potent, which is one of my few criticisms.
