Bunnahabhain 11 Year Old 2007-2019 French Brandy Cask Finish, 52.5% ABV. Nose: Salted roasted nuts, toffee, dried apple rings, mixed dried fruit, walnuts; reminiscent of the dried fruit in Basic 4 cereal (with water: More vibrant, dried fruits are more pronounced). Taste: Rich fruity apples, toffee, raisins, figs, orange, salted caramel, a woody bite/spice, chocolate (with water: More fruit-forward initially, salted caramel immediately follows, light bitter chocolate emerges at the end). Finish: Lingering sweetness of raisins/dates/figs, light salt, caramel, chocolate (with water: Unchanged). Score: 93/100. Final Thoughts: An exceptional dram, though the nose was somewhat subdued. It's not excessively sweet, offering a pleasant balance of dried fruits and sweet nuts on the palate, complemented by salted caramel. A small amount of water enhances it slightly, but it's quite good as is. It drinks very smoothly at its proof. Overall, it's very good, bordering on fantastic. It incorporates all my preferred flavors—salt, caramel, dried fruits, sweet nuts, and a hint of chocolate—but lacks that extra something to make it truly amazing. Would I drink it if offered? Yes. Would I specifically order it? Yes. Would I buy a bottle? Yes. NOTE: All reviews exclude price considerations.
