This was a sample of an independently bottled Bunnahabhain from Astor Wines & Spirits in New York. It presents a light, lemony aroma with a touch of moss. These flavors transition to the palate but are then overpowered by a strong peppery spice. (Bunnahabhains of this age are typically unpeated, so the zest likely comes from the cask.) A subtle chocolate note appears on the finish. It’s perfectly drinkable, but the harmony between the wood influence and the spirit isn't quite right.
