About this bottle

Created with a mash bill of rye, barley, and corn, Buffalo Trace White Dog Rye Mash is bottled at a robust 125 proof immediately after distillation. This clear spirit is the unaged precursor to what eventually becomes Sazerac Straight Rye Whiskey after maturation in barrels.

Donte Duke 2.5

This rye new make spirit is quite clear with thin viscous legs. The aroma is sweet and floral with notes of dandelion, ripe pineapple, mild rye spice, and pond algae. The taste is sweet and simple with notes of cherry, grapefruit, breakfast toast, and a tannic sensation. The finish is tingling, mild, and of medium length. Cheers!

Beware, it's unaged and packs a punch! After a fleeting blast of alcohol and a potent grain character, it quickly settles into a sweet, buttery marshmallow flavor. The finish is somewhat apple-like once the sweetness fades and your mouth feels dry. Quite remarkable for a white whiskey; I could genuinely enjoy sipping this straight and be content with each taste.

Dale Jacobsen 2.3

A buttery aroma, much like freshly made popcorn. The initial taste is potent but fleeting. The aftertaste is again buttery and pleasing. While not ideal for daily drinking, it's a good choice for an occasional pour.

Felecia Reis 0.8

Rye bread, rubber, rubbing alcohol, and sourness are abundant. It does offer some distinct flavors, I'll give it that.

Rodger Gillis 2.3

There's a significant amount of heat. The rye delivers a forceful impact.

Ashlee Boyle 1.8

Unrefined. I don't care for this one.
