About this bottle
Part of Buffalo Trace's second series of experimental spirits from 2007, this bourbon originated from BT Rye Mash #1. It was distilled and barreled in May 1992. Following six years and three months in new, charred American oak, the spirit was transferred in August 1998 to an ex-zinfandel barrel with a medium toast. After a total of fourteen years of aging, during which 34.5% evaporated, the barrel was emptied in February 2007 and bottled at 45% ABV. At the time of its release, the TTB's regulations required wine-finished bourbon to be labeled as "whiskey."
