About this bottle
Introduced in 2007 as part of Buffalo Trace's second experimental whiskey batch, this bourbon utilizes BT Rye Mash #1, distilled and barreled in April 1988. After 10 years and 4 months in new charred American oak, the spirit was transferred in August 1998 to a medium-toasted American oak ex-zinfandel barrel. It concluded an eighteen-year maturation period, with 34.17% evaporation, before being bottled at 45% ABV in February 2007. At the time of bottling, TTB regulations required wine-finished bourbon to be labeled as "whiskey."
