About this bottle
Released in 2009 as one of two bottlings from the sixth batch of Buffalo Trace's Experimental Collection, this bourbon explored the impact of wood grain coarseness in barrels. Fine grain wood comes from slow-growing trees, while coarse grain wood comes from fast-growing ones. This bourbon, made from BT Rye Mash #2, was distilled in July 1994 and aged in a fine grain oak cask with a #4 char. After fourteen years and nine months, and a 51% evaporation, it was bottled in May 2009 at 45% ABV.
