About this bottle
This release from 2009 is one of two bottles from the sixth batch of Buffalo Trace's Experimental Collection, exploring differences in wood grain coarseness for barrels. Slow-growing trees yield fine-grained wood, while fast-growing trees produce coarse-grained wood. This bourbon, made from BT Rye Mash #2, was distilled in July 1994 and barreled in a coarse-grain oak cask with a #4 char. After fourteen years and nine months, and 51% evaporation, the barrel was emptied in May 2009 and bottled at 45% ABV.
