About this bottle
This bourbon, made with BT Rye Mash #1 and distilled/barreled in April 1988, was part of Buffalo Trace's third batch of experimental releases in 2007. Following 10 years and 4 months in new charred American oak, it was moved in August 1998 to a medium-toasted French oak ex-chardonnay barrel. After a total of eighteen years of aging, resulting in 61.83% evaporation, the barrel was emptied in February 2007 and bottled at 45% ABV. Under TTB interpretation at the time, bourbon finished in wine casks had to be designated as "whiskey."
