This is my initial experience with a Bruichladdich Rock'ndaal, the 03.1, from this year's Feis Ile (2024), which I had the opportunity to sample at the distillery event. On the nose, I detect the familiar soapiness often found in Bruichladdich; pineapple, tangerine. Also present are notes of lotion, white chocolate, and crushed almonds. On the palate, it had a very "shampoo-like" character. Tangerine, oranges, nougat. The finish is dominated by lotion, white chocolate, nougat, and a strong ginger note. In summary, a pretty good bottling, but it suffers from the same issues I typically encounter with many core range "laddies": the soapy and shampoo characteristics. I rate it a solid 89 out of 100.
