Blind Squirrel Peanut Butter Whiskey

I have no prior experience with Screwball, nor have I tasted a peanut butter flavored whiskey. Generally, I'm not fond of flavored spirits. I picked up this small bottle on a whim, curious if I was missing out. My curiosity was met with an aroma of roasted peanuts in sweet syrup. It's pleasant but lacks complexity, offering only the scent of roasted peanuts. The taste is sweet with a very smooth texture. It presents as sweetened peanuts with a subtle spicy note at the end. Without prior knowledge, I wouldn't identify it as whiskey. I can't fathom anyone drinking this neat. It's clearly not intended for sipping from a traditional whiskey glass. I have no desire to try it on ice, though I suspect mixing it with bourbon cream would yield a taste reminiscent of a peanut butter cup, which might appeal to inexperienced and immature drinkers until they become ill. This is not my preference. Given the choice, I'd give it one star, but that wouldn't be fair. It likely delivers on its advertised promise, but it's not a product I would ever purchase. Therefore, I'm assigning it an average rating, which is generous. I'm giving it 2 stars, and that's a gift. This is more of a liqueur than a whiskey, evoking the overly sweet drinks of the 1980s cocktail bar scene. It's best suited as a mixer for added sweetness and flavor, or as a chilled shot for those unfamiliar with enjoying whiskey. I'll pass. Does anyone want the remaining 25ml? I couldn't finish it.

Tasted from a small 50ml bottle. Sweet peanut and salty pretzels, a bit too sweet. Perhaps not ideal for sipping straight, but a decent dessert option, particularly if craving peanut butter.

Excessively sweet for more than one serving. However, if you enjoy peanut butter, the flavor is excellent.
