The nose has a strong scent of brown sugar, pecan, and maple syrup. The initial taste is soft on the palate, with the aforementioned notes clearly present. My main observation is that this would be great for cooking, served over waffles, or added to a morning coffee. When ice is added, the liquid seems to thicken, taking on a consistency more like cough syrup, though that might just be my impression. From a bourbon perspective, it's not highly complex but offers other benefits like suitability for cooking or use with other foods. I'm not in a rush to buy more, but I'll enjoy the bottle I have.

To be candid, the scent is not appealing, carrying an persistent chemical aroma with a hint of cinnamon. Fortunately, the flavor is more agreeable, reminiscent of pecan-infused maple syrup with a lingering, sweet burn as the only indicator of its alcoholic nature. However, the nutty undertones retain a somewhat chemical quality, which translates to staleness or rancidity when paired with the nut flavor. I was eager to sample this but am relieved I did not purchase a full bottle. If seeking a "treat" bourbon, the established Southern Comfort is a better alternative.

Initially, I was skeptical, but some fellows from my tennis group suggested I try it. I'm glad I did! It's a pleasant change. There's a hint of pecan at the start and a sweet finish. It doesn't burn. It's good for after dinner. They're releasing an eggnog with this and their rye, plus spices. I'm looking forward to it!

Smells of brown sugar, pecans, and corn. The taste is very sweet with lots of brown sugar, and the finish has a slight vanilla note. It's incredibly smooth, and at only 70 proof, there's not much burn. Overall, it's a very sweet bourbon that I'd definitely suggest.

If you want to drink your dessert, try this bottle. It's too sweet for regular sipping but would be an excellent mixer for dessert drinks. You could also drink it straight as a dessert beverage.

Gerry Lauer 3.5

A subtle pecan flavor that really comes through at the end. It's incredibly smooth and quite good for a flavored whiskey.
