Bird Dog's flavored whiskeys are built upon a Kentucky bourbon foundation of corn, malted barley, and rye. This variety features a maple flavor.

I'm not positive if this bottle was off, but it certainly lacks a potent maple essence. It's quite subtle, and the minimal taste I detect is closer to the maple tree itself than actual syrup.
This is not a whiskey, not even when compared to flavored whiskeys. You would do better to grab maple syrup and mix it with Everclear.
The maple sweetness is strong, with a vanilla taste and a slight alcohol aroma, though not overpowering. It paired well with Dr. Pepper; definitely a whiskey for mixing.
