A perfectly acceptable drink. The aroma is great, with berries upfront. It needed water to mellow the ethanol, though it did lose some character as a result. I figured out 'claret' refers to wine from Bordeaux or elsewhere with similar traits, which seems a bit pointless to me. I'm guessing Benriach didn't use fake claret, so it must have been finished in Bordeaux wine casks.
