Benriach 2009 12 years old cask edition (La Maison Du Whisky)

I view Benriach as a lesser version of Glendronach. It doesn't possess the same depth as 'dronach' but is certainly superior to Glenglassaugh. For context, these three distilleries share common ownership. In light of that, during my trip to Scotland, I encountered a remarkable find: a 2009 Benriach, a peated single malt, aged in a port pipe, sourced from a single cask (#4835), and bottled at 59.7% ABV. Quite intriguing. It is 12 years old. On the nose, it is remarkably intricate. Coffee and cigarettes. Peaches and red fruits. A delicate honey note that seems crystallized. Ashtray, Peach halves. There are faint maritime undertones. On the palate, it is so intensely sweet it borders on cloying. Peaches, rich honey, and cough syrup. A hint of sulfur, peach syrup, and an overload of sugar. The finish is out of this world. It begins with cigarettes, then transforms into an ashtray. A bonfire, like a log ablaze smoking your entire palate in a truly wonderful way. Perfection. Overall, this is an astonishing whisky, limited to 753 bottles, but it's absolutely worth seeking out, as finding one of these 'juices' promises a fantastic experience. Not this liquor Benriach cask edition peated 2008 cs (px hogshead) 9 years aged 4.35 Smell Slightly nutty peat, vanilla notes make me mistake it for a bourbon cask, influenced by the overly strong vino barrica before, burnt sweet potato, the charred firewood smell you get when tidying up a campfire Taste A well-done sherry peat, both complementing each other and harmoniously not too strong. Raspberry, charcoal Finish A smooth tightening sensation. Nice that the sweet grape and peat linger in the aftertaste. Feels very similar to Loch Gorm
