The more you taste this bourbon, the more you grow to admire it! Apparently, the bourbon is matured in Tannat grape barrels for a minimum of six months prior to bottling. The bourbon is a classic Tennessee spirit, but its aroma is distinctive. You detect a floral scent, perhaps even the fragrance of red wine or roses. Then you notice the sweetness and caramel aroma. Next, the initial tasting notes appear, and you might sense some warmth before it finds its balance. I was able to discern corn, caramel, and vanilla. However, at the end, the wine influence is noticeable. Definitely one to acquire and keep in your collection or to share with companions.

About this bottle
This is the third bottling in Belle Meade's Craftsman Cask Collection, which features distinctive cask-finished bourbons. Each selection is aged a minimum of ten years. This particular bourbon spent 181 days finishing its maturation in a tannat wine cask. The tannat grape is typically cultivated in Madiran in southwestern France and in Uruguay. Bottled at a 97.8 cask strength, this single barrel release yielded 276 bottles and was sold exclusively at the distillery's shop in Nashville beginning September 1, 2018.
