Barrell Bourbon Batch 020

This is incredibly smooth! I anticipated it being much harsher given the alcohol content, but that wasn't the case at all. While I generally favor full-proof bourbons, this one astonished me. It's not only exceptionally smooth but also brimming with flavor. I purchased this batch for myself and batch 21 for a friend as a present, and I'm pleased I did so I can compare them. I'll definitely be trying more of these!

The aroma evokes apple, cherry, and pecan pies cooling near a smoky lumberyard with mint growing wild. The palate delivers the anticipated flavors with a rich, oily texture and added notes of orange, cola, and vanilla. A finish of spicy wood shavings, peanuts, and a slightly medicinal spearmint remains. While not the most intricate batch, it honors the distillery, offering considerable depth.

The taste brings orange peel followed by nougat and caramel, plus vanilla ice cream. The finish offers notes of whipped cream and cream soda. This batch is exceptional.
