Initial impression is underwhelming, but it might improve with air. The aroma is fantastic, showcasing beautiful oloroso characteristics. However, it drinks like a less harsh, thicker, and more cohesive version of a specific Islay malt. It doesn't quite match the quality of other offerings.

On a second tasting after some oxidation in the sample bottle, the impression is the same, except now even the amazing unique scent is gone and this is like a cask strength Kilchoman Sanaig. That’s good but not exceptional like Ballechin SFTC Bordeaux.
Dry sherry notes and Highland campfire peat. It's pleasant but simple. Not intriguing enough to purchase a bottle.
