About this bottle

Balblair introduced this 2000 vintage expression in January 2018 as its second release from that year, appearing seven years after the initial bottling. This single malt was matured for 13 years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, followed by an additional five years in first-fill Spanish oak butts, and bottled at 46% ABV.

Andres Dorsey 4.5

The details provided are incorrect. It is not an NAS whisky. Balblair indicates age differently. The label shows the distillation year and bottling year. This was distilled in 2000 and bottled in 2017, making it at least 16 years old. It's a fantastic whisky. Clearly a Highland style. With notes of fruit, cereal, and heather. Becomes quite dry and salty as it evolves. No peat. Very intricate. Requires significant time in the glass to open up and a small amount of water. Wonderful. Definitely among the top malts I've sampled recently.

Cindy Watkins 4.3

Nose: apples with a hint of red, aged leather, dried grapes, and blossoms Palate: sugary, clover honey, butter cookies, dense fruitcake, and dark plums Finish: lingering, cozy and smooth, with a fruity essence

Micaela Mcclellan 4.0

Nose: vibrant, orchard fruit, sultanas, caramel sugar Palate: sugary, grain-forward, powerful, buttery cookies

Jarod Becker 4.0

Fruity sweet flavors. A nice, full finish.
