This rum possesses an amazing, rich tropical scent. Pineapple and creamy coconut are most prominent, with a subtle guava note at the end. The aroma is almost like a strong piña colada with a twist. Although there's a slight sugary artificiality to the scent, it smells fairly natural, close to what you might get from decent quality pineapple and guava concentrates. The coconut aroma is the most authentic. Interestingly, it starts with the guava flavor, which was the least distinct in the aroma. Around the mid-palate, a strong, creamy coconut taste emerges, which is very pleasant, eventually giving way to a salty pineapple that is surprisingly not very tart. Simple syrup appears at the very end. The finish consists more of simple syrup, with hints of guava and pineapple closing it out. Unfortunately, there's a noticeable and quite strong alcohol burn at the end, which feels out of place in this otherwise sugary, tropical concoction. Overall, it's a bit too sweet to drink on its own, though adding some sugar remedies this. However, it's clearly intended for mixing with juice or for sweet, summery beverages, providing a potent burst of tropical fruit flavors that won't be lost. To that end, this rum is a highly enjoyable summer mixer for creating fun, refreshing drinks. It's not for sophisticated rum enthusiasts, but rather for those seeking a spirited beach getaway.
