Wilford Estrella 4.0

Upon first smell, it's clear this spirit has significant proof and it makes its presence known. Bold caramel, vanilla, oak, and spice all compete for attention. It smells powerful and suggests more than one serving. The initial taste is warm, then quickly cools. Sweet caramel and vanilla lead, followed closely by spice and oak. The alcohol content enhances the flavor rather than causing disorder. The finish is lengthy and warm, making you want another drink, though perhaps it's best not to. This calls for a robust cigar, like a Padron 2000 Maduro or Perdomo 10th Anniversary Maduro. Don't pair it with anything weak. In summary, Augusta Old Route 8 Single Barrel demonstrates high proof executed properly. It's enjoyable, full of flavor, and carries a slight risk.

Lina Mares 4.0

8-year single barrel, 124.6 proof, bottle 100, barrel 30. Nose: graham cracker, prominent grain, and a soft marshmallow. Palate: licorice and peanut upfront, not overly sweet, with faint hints of bubblegum. Nutty in the middle with a touch of spice. The finish has burnt sugar and some grain.

Joann Wade 4.5

This had a fantastic mouthfeel with abundant caramel. The alcohol content enhances the flavor. A dark fruit is present on the palate, leading to a finish of tobacco and oak.

Kade Pollard 3.5

Aroma: burnt caramel, dried fruit or grain, a bit sweet. Flavor: woody or toasted, spice, dried fruit or grain, slightly sweet and smooth.

Rick Ring 3.8

A nicely complex pour. Oak, grain, and caramel begin the flavor profile, with a touch of spice emerging about three-quarters of the way through.

Selina Guajardo 4.3

Single barrel from Seelbach's. 124.6 proof. Maple syrup, significant oak, and brown sugar.
