Independent Cadenhead's bottlings seldom disappoint, and this 17-year-old Auchentoshan, distilled in 1999, is no exception (498 bottles, 55.5% ABV). The nose offers a complex medley of creamy citrus, lemon zest, and intense floral notes. Adding water makes the aroma sweeter and gentler. It arrives fresh and zesty, with more lime, grapefruit, and strong green tea notes developing. The lengthy finish is crisp, very citrusy, with hints of salt and bitter tonic. What an invigorating single malt! RATING: 4.0/5.0 stars ≙ 88 pts → FIRST-CLASS
