Amiyah Flannery 4.5

Having experienced several expressions from The Arran Malt, I can confidently state they produce excellent whiskies. This limited edition 21-year-old is no exception. Fully matured in sherry oak, likely oloroso, it retains Arran's characteristic tropical flavors and scents. Bottled at 46% ABV with a burnished gold hue. The nose is incredibly complex and delightful, featuring pineapple, coconut, coffee, dates, and cherry syrup. There's a distinct Italian limoncello aroma, with grapefruit and a sense of freshness. Following an initial taste, notes of chocolate, orange leaf, and cocoa emerge. The palate is absolutely delicious, presenting pineapple, grated coconut, sea salt, a glazed donut, and surprisingly, pine tree – like a plastic Christmas tree. Don't ask how I know that. Haha. The finish is substantial, with cocoa nibs, chocolate, ginger, and hay. It's quite dry and medium in length. In summary, this is a superb bottling. It feels sophisticated yet remains wonderfully tropical and sweet. The chocolate/vanilla notes don't blend with the tropical elements; they simply coexist harmoniously. My rating is 93 out of 100.

Smell: grapes, bananas. Sweet. Taste: bananas, sweet. Spicy finish. The flavors truly evolve in the mouth. Very complex. A great scotch. Consumed neat on 10/4/20.
