Bradley Wise 3.5

In the realm of amaro, I don't frequently consider CioCiaro, but it is very well-crafted and affordably priced. On the nose, I detect orange peel and tobacco. The palate is actually quite herbal and rather sweet. The bitter component is less pronounced than in most amaro, with some pleasant cola notes. The finish has no burn and hints of licorice. For the cost, I believe this is a solid value amaro. It's not incredibly complex, but it's well-made and easy to consume. I'm surprised it's not requested more often in cocktails. I would likely rate it a 3.25 neat, but for the value, I'll increase it to a 3.5.

Alfred Metzger 3.5

Aroma: Very herbaceous with bright orange and citrus notes. Hints of cola, nuts, and licorice. Flavor: Sweet with wormwood and spicy cinnamon. A licorice taste alongside some pepper leaves a tingling sensation on the palate. Well-balanced and affordable, though difficult to find in many places. I favor it over Amaro Montenegro.

Hunter Hayden 4.0

Initially unimpressive, this grew on me. It has a distinct orange peel that sits atop a sweeter, cola-like foundation with a hint of mint on the finish.

Millicent Velez 4.3

Superb Amaro. Hints of cola, tobacco, dark chocolate, tart cherry, orange peel, and cinnamon on the finish. It works very well in a Black Manhattan.

Sweet, mildly bitter, easy to sip. Best served on the rocks with a lemon wedge.
