Adelphi Ben Nevis 2015 (#10711)

(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Ardnamurchan Virtual Whisky Tasting, 05 November 2020). Initially stated as 67.4% ABV, this was a mistake; the correct ABV is 61.4% - surely that changes everything!!! Nose: Toasted caramel/maple syrup, medicinal (like children's medication), black tea. A very slight hint of banana. Palate: Sweet syrup, liquorice, dark fruit, leather, savory yeast spread, 'Fisherman's Friend' lozenges! Finish: Smoky, leather, liquorice, spicy, cocoa, woody/charred. A lengthy finish. This is a dark, warming, and distinct dram. It possesses a special quality and a strong sense of nostalgia, reminding me of Chelsea Whopper sweets from my childhood! It also bore a resemblance to the Talisker Distiller's Edition (particularly the 2002 expression), which is a personal favorite. Delightful, though its availability via lottery makes a repeat tasting unlikely in the near future. It was the top choice among the six whiskies tasted, receiving 66% of the votes for favorite of the night. (93% of attendees indicated they enjoyed the whisky).
