About this bottle

Introduced in 1988, Citron was the second flavored vodka offered by Absolut. Utilizing Absolut's classic vodka, derived from winter wheat, Citron incorporates purely natural elements, predominantly lemon with a hint of lime. It contains no added sugar and is the ideal vodka for crafting a Cosmopolitan.

Nose: A delicate lemon scent, not like zest or juice, but more like lemon gelato. Palate: Sweet with a very mild lemon arrival, and you definitely detect that characteristic ethanol “vanilla” quality. The lemon flavor is understated and doesn't mask the alcohol, but it's not too faint either. The texture is good, creamy and smooth, but not quite as substantial as the texture of their Lime vodka. Finish: Very brief. Almost nothing but slightly sweet ethanol, but absolutely no off-notes. I wasn't planning to sample the remaining vodkas in my 4-pack of Absolut tasters today, but the Lime flavor left such a positive impression that I had to explore further. This is very pleasant neat, refreshing, and surprisingly easy to drink over ice, and delightful with a bit of tonic. I'm sure it also works well in cocktails and would probably pair nicely with Coke for those who dislike their soft drinks flavored with “brown liquor” notes. I bet it also has an affinity for rum and Tiki drinks. There’s not much more to add. It’s palatable and there is nothing to criticize. I’m rating this slightly lower than Lime Absolut because I felt that spirit had a bit more character and energy, but if you prefer a more subdued profile, you could reasonably reverse the two scores. Sampled from a 50ml retail portion. “Above Average”: 82/100 (3.25 stars)

The scent of orange blossom precedes the primary lemon flavor. It's not overly sweet, and a wheat vodka character remains at the finish. While I don't often drink flavored vodkas, this one is pleasant enough to sip neat and would likely pair well with tonic or soda water.

Absolut Citron Vodka presents an appealing scent of lemon custard and key lime pie. The initial taste is bitter, followed by a palate of lemon peel. The finish dissipates into fresh lime juice with an underlying note of wheat. It's enjoyable on its own, but its flavor in cocktails seems artificial.

Consumed in a Cosmo at Louie's; contained Absolute Citron, O3, lime juice, cranberry, pure cane syrup, and a lemon twist. Flavors of cranberry and lime. A lime finish with a hint of alcoholic sharpness. Lingering lime taste.

Thanks for the complimentary pours at Copenhagen Airport. I don't recall the initial flavor profile; I was too drunk after the fifth free shot.

Darcy Epps 3.5

Reminds me of a lemon candy. A refreshing summer beverage when mixed with soda water and lime syrup.
