Continuing my series of reviews of "the Distillery Reserve Collection" whiskies from Pernod Ricard, I'm about to describe a perfect dram. An astonishing sherry dark bomb. This is the Aberlour 17yo, Single Cask Strength. So much flavor in one 50cl bottle. Simply amazing. Bottled at 52.8%abv, it has a deep copper color. The nose is spectacular, with blackberry marmalade, sherry madness, and red wine, perhaps Cabernet Sauvignon. On the palate, it's a sweet monster: chocolate, milk powder, almonds, sherry, and cherries. Sublime. The finish is also a work of art. All the spiciness originates from the sherry profile: pepper, ginger, more sherry, and pleasant tobacco. Balance is key. This whisky has it all, and this score is well-earned. 100 out of 100. Cheers!
