Johanna Lemus 4.5

Delicious 1845 Preemption Texas Straight Bourbon, 5 years old, Single Barrel #90! The initial pour presented waxy new oak aromas that developed beautifully. The aromas shifted to cinnamon, anise, ginger ale cola, and a caramel toffee that is outstanding! However, you need to pull your nose away from the glass to detect the lovely caramel toffee and cream soda. But it is very good! On the palate, it is sweet and spicy as expected. More baking spices, like peppercorn, ginger, with a very sweet finish leaning towards vanilla and brown sugar/molasses, and salty caramel. You cannot feel the heat of a 119 proof. It is incredibly smooth and delicious! It's a great experience, and I'm very pleased to have gotten 2 bottles signed by the owner and the master distiller. It truly stands at par with or surpasses any high-tier EH Taylor, Russel Reserve, Old Forester, or even Eagle Rare. It is definitely a winner! Slainte Mha!
