History
Gin-forward spirituous notes counter sweet liqueurs in this Aviation-inspired Martini.
This cocktail was first offered on the menu of The American Bar at The Savoy Hotel in London in 2014 for £17. The Wingspan Cocktail was created to commemorate the first international airmail shipment by William Boeing and Eddie Hubbard on 3rd March 1919. It draws inspiration from two well-known cocktails associated with The Savoy: the Aviation and the 'Wings' cocktail, which was created by head bartender Eddie Clarke as a tribute to the RAF during World War II. The ingredients are Bombay Sapphire gin, Swedish Punch, Cocchi Americano, Crème de Violet, and Orange bitters.
