History
Sweet and unsophisticated, but better than most club offerings.
This cocktail is named after a track on Herbie Hancock's debut album, Takin Off. It was popularized in Berlin during the mid-1990s by Cookie, a famous club night promoter. He began serving the cocktail at his weekly roving club nights, leading to its appearance in nearly every bar in Berlin for years afterward. When asked about the cocktail's origin, Cookie stated: "Because when it's late, people who drink beer become boring. They need something stronger and sweeter, like love itself!"
