History
Why have a Vodka Sour when a Vodka Stone Sour is possible.
This cocktail is adapted from a recipe in Vincent Sardi Jr. & George Shea's 1988 Sardi's Bar Guide. The Vodka Stone Sour calls for 1½ ounces vodka, 1 ounce lemon juice (preferably freshly squeezed), 1 teaspoon superfine sugar, and 1½ ounces orange juice (preferably freshly squeezed). The preparation involves combining these ingredients with ice cubes in a cocktail shaker, then shaking and straining into a cocktail glass. Alternatively, the contents, including ice cubes, can be emptied into an Old-Fashioned glass and served on the rocks. The drink is garnished with ½ slice orange or lemon and a maraschino cherry.
