History
A vodka-based riff on the Negroni, its spirit-forward character steers it towards Sweet Martini territory.
Gary "gaz" Regan developed this recipe in February 1999, and it was subsequently featured in his 2001 book, The Joy of Mixology. VALENTINO Mardee and the author adjusted the Negroni's standard ratios when creating this drink in February 1999. It was created for the Valentine's Day edition of the Ardent Spirits e-letter. While easily made, the resulting cocktail significantly differs from the Negroni, serving as a prime illustration of how a well-established recipe can be adapted. 2 ounces gin ½ ounce Campari ½ ounce sweet vermouth 1 orange twist, for garnish Combine ingredients with ice, stir, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist.
