The Sunray first appeared in William James "Billy" Tarling's 1937 Café Royal Bar Book, where "A. L. Jones" is credited with its invention. J. E. Clapham of Clapham Cocktails brought this drink to attention, suggesting the use of Cocchi Americano to replace the Kina Lillet found in the original 1937 recipe. SUNRAY Invented by A. L. Jones 1/4 Grand Marnier. 1/4 Bourbon Whiskey. 1/4 Lillet. 1/4 Orange Juice. Shake.
