2 oz Vodka
1/4 oz Dry vermouth
1/3 oz Sugar syrup 'rich' (2:1)
2/3 oz Strawberry purée
2 grind Black pepper

How to make

Serve in a martini glass

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a MARTINI GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of half strawberry.

  1. 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 Garnish with strawberry on rim.

History

This drink combines grainy vodka with strawberry, balanced by the depth of dry vermouth. The subtle addition of black pepper spice distinguishes this fruity martini. An attempt to substitute bianco vermouth for dry vermouth and reduce the sugar syrup resulted in a less desirable cocktail. When employing a sweetened strawberry purée, the sugar syrup should be reduced. Alternatively, if fresh strawberries are used instead of purée, muddle 5 small strawberries in the shaker prior to incorporating the other components.
