1 1/2 oz Gin
3/4 oz Amaro (e.g. Lucano)
1/2 oz Vermouth alla vaniglia
1/6 oz Fernet liqueur
4 drop Saline solution 4:1

How to make

Serve in a old-fashioned glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of skewered Luxardo Maraschino Cherry.

Method

  1. 3 STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 STRAIN into ice-filled glass (preferably over a large cube or chunk of block ice).

  1. 5 Garnish with skewered cherry.

Dan Long created this cocktail in 2011 while working as a bartender in Los Angeles. The Solomon Grundy is named after the DC Comics supervillain, who in turn takes his name from a 19th-century nursery rhyme.
