History

Temperature and dilution are key to success, achieved with a glass filled to the brim with very cold ice chips.

This pre-Prohibition cocktail originates from the Big Brass Rail bar at the original Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, USA. The recipe is adapted from Albert Stevens Crockett's 1931 publication, Old Waldorf Bar Days. The SKIPPER cocktail is named in honor of a well-known yachtsman from many years ago, though his name is not recalled. The proportions are: Two-thirds Gordon Gin, One-fourth Maraschino, a Dash of Orange Juice, and a Dash of Lemon Juice. It is served Frappé.
