History

Whisky usually suits lemon, but lime's zestiness works well in this recipe, used sparingly.

This drink is adapted from a recipe created by Joe Gilmore at The American Bar in London's Savoy Hotel. It was made in honor of Winston Churchill, whose mother is sometimes incorrectly stated to have been present at the creation of the Manhattan cocktail.
