Prepare
- 1 Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.
- 2 RIM glass with sugar (moisten the outside edge with orange juice and dip into sugar).
- 3 Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.
Method
- 4 SHAKE first 5 ingredients with ice.
- 5 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.
- 6 TOP with sparkling wine.
Garnish
- 7 EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

A classic Sidecar with an added splash of sparkle, greatly improved.
The Sidecar cocktail is first documented in Robert Vermeire's 1922 book Cocktails How To Mix Them. A version with a fizz, the Sidecar fizz, appeared in the United Kingdom Bartenders' Guild's 1937 publication Approved Cocktails. CHAMPAGNE SIDE-CAR. 25% Lemon Juice. 25% Brandy. 25% Cointreau. Shake and strain into a large glass. Fill up with Champagne.
