Ingredients

12 fresh Mint leaves
1 3/4 oz Gin
1/2 oz Lemon juice
1/4 oz Maraschino liqueur
1/4 oz Sugar syrup 'rich' (2:1)

How to make

Serve in a coupe glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of Luxardo Maraschino Cherry.

Method

  1. 3 Gently MUDDLE mint in base of shaker (just to bruise).
  2. 4 Add other ingredients, SHAKE with ice.
  3. 5 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 6 Garnish with skewered cherry.

Harry Craddock's 1930 book, The Savoy Cocktail Book, notably features the Sensation. The SENSATION COCKTAIL recipe listed is: 3 Dashes Maraschino 3 Sprigs Fresh Mint. ¼ Lemon Juice. ¾ Dry Gin. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass. However, the recipe used here is adapted from Stan Jones' 1977 work, Jones' Complete Bar Guide.
